Nehemiah 4:9 says, "Nevertheless, we made our prayer to our God, and because of them we set a watch against them day and night." (NKJV) As the Nehemiah generation, the body of Christ is igniting 24 hour prayer clocks in local churches and city-wide. This pattern was designed by God through King David. I Chronicles 16:4,6,37 says, "And he appointed certain of the Levites to minister before the ark of the Lord, and to record, and to thank and praise the Lord God of Israel; Benaiah also and Jahaziel the priests with trumpets continually before the ark of the covenant of God. So he left there before the ark of the covenant of the Lord Asaph and his brethren, to minister before the ark continually, as every day's work required." (KJV)

Nehemiah was sent by the Lord to restore the walls of Jerusalem. He remembered that King David incorporated the pattern of 24 hour prayer, praise and worship. The people were kept safe and prosperous. The psalmists in King David's temple sang their prayers as well as spoke them. Psalms 119:134-135 says, "Direct my steps by your word, and let no iniquity have dominion over me. Redeem me from the oppression of man, that I may keep your precepts. Make your face shine upon your servant, and teach me your statutes. Rivers of water run down from my eyes, because men do not keep your law." (KJV) This man was weeping tears of intercession as he sang his prayer song.

The Azusa Street and Angelus Temple Revival's were both started with 24 hour prayer, praise and worship. There was spontaneous singing in the spirit, healings, miracles, angelic visitations, and the doors were always open for people to come and minister unto the Lord. Aimee Simple McPherson said, "But all heaven is bent to listen to the prayers of the despised, humble group whose presence men ignore as they meet within the Upper Room. The minister who goes without tarrying in prayer is an ambassador without his authorization papers. The revival on the day of Pentecost was not worked up, it was prayed down!"
